I
try to read the article in the way that we discussed in class, but I think I'm
failed because I still don't understand some of the contents. First, I
carefully read the table of contents, and try to understand the outline of the
article. Then, I start to read the article multiple times. I read this article
paragraph by paragraph because I think it will help me to understand the
meaning of each paragraph. When I read the article, I underline some words and sentences,
which I think it is important. After repeated reading, I understand most parts
of the article. However, no matter how many times I read, I just can’t get all the meaning. I think this
active reading help me to understand the article because although I can’t get all the meaning, I learn how to
effectively understand the meaning of the article.
No, you didn't fail! I gave you that article because it's really hard to understand so you would have to read actively. I'm more concerned with you reading actively than with you understanding everything in the article. It's really difficult to read, especially if you're not a native English speaker. Thanks for putting so much time into it!
